What a Wednesday it turned out to be on my show.
We played Found It, the bit where I dig out a genuine Guinness World Record and you try to guess the numbers. Today's three were all about human hair, which I'll be honest, is not something I thought I'd spend a Wednesday morning discussing. Jessica Martinez from New York holds the record for the largest afro on a female at 31 centimetres wide. Then we had the longest eyelash, grown by a Chinese woman in 2021, measuring 20.5 centimetres. And the one that really got people talking, the longest beard on a female, belonging to Janice Deveree, born in 1842, whose beard measured 36 centimetres back in 1884. That's a combined total of 87.5 centimetres of record-breaking human hair. Whether you guessed close or nowhere near, I hope it at least gave you a chuckle.
Then came Topical Tune, where I play a news story and you suggest the song that best fits it. Today's story was a 67 million-year-old T-Rex selling at Sotheby's in New York for a staggering £37.4 million. The suggestions you sent in were brilliant. Was Not Was, The Killers, Huey Lewis, Hot Chocolate all got a mention, but the winning pick went to Henry in Dunholme with Bruno Mars and Treasure. Hard to argue with that one really.
