The show

How would you describe your show in one sentence?: "When surveyed 99.0% of respondents said they liked the show."
What makes your show, your show?: The bits where I do the talking.
Favourite features or games to do on air?: 'The Finishing Off Game' — can you work out in your teams what the answer to my random question of the day is?
What kind of listener will love your show?: One with ears!

Their journey

How did you first get into radio?: I loved radio as a kid and went knocking on the door of every station I could find trying to get a job or find out how to get into radio, then helping out a friend on Student Radio for a few weeks as a co-host made it become an unhealthy obsession!
What's been your path to where you are now?: DJing in bars and clubs, student radio, volunteering on community radio and then finally breaking into commercial after many years of rejections and 'try again laters'.
Did you always want to be on air?: "When walking, you do not actually touch the ground at an atomic level. Instead, the molecules in your feet/shoes repel the molecules in the ground through electromagnetic force." So technically I've always been on air.
Best moment on air so far?: Having Noel Gallagher from Oasis name-check me during an interview live on air.
Any interviews or moments you're especially proud of?: Adapting to the challenges of Covid or not breaking everything the moment I walk into a studio.
Toughest moment in radio?: Explaining to a little old lady during Covid who called into the station asking if she was allowed to open the windows in her house because she needed to let the air circulate but she was scared of catching the virus. She had been sat alone for 2 weeks worried and not knowing what to do.

What do you enjoy most about interacting with listeners?: The feeling of being part of a much larger community.
A message or moment from a listener that's stuck with you?: "I like listening to you."

Music & influences

Earliest memory of listening to radio?: Listening to 'Let Loose — Crazy For You' on 90s mega radio station Atlantic 252.
Biggest broadcasting influences?: Mark & Lard, Chris Moyles and just anyone with something funny to say.
One song you'll never get bored of?: Avicii — Broken Arrows.
What kind of music do you love off air?: Anything by Avicii, though I do have quite an eclectic music taste, so it could be motown one day, rock the next or some good old cheesy pop.
A track that always gets a reaction on your show?: Starship — We Built This City.

What does being part of Magna Radio mean to you?: The chance to make a real difference to local listeners.
What excites you most about what we're building here?: I think someone mentioned Free Cake Friday?

Quickfire

Tea or coffee?: Neither, oddly I'm not much of a hot drink consumer.
Early start or late finish?: Are they not the norm doing both?
One word to describe your show: 'Hippopotomonstrosesquipedaliophobia' (the fear of long words).
Guilty pleasure song?: Atomic Kitten — See Ya!
Something people wouldn't expect about you: I'm actually funny in real life sometimes!
Hidden talents or unusual skills?: I can speak fluently in 8 different languages, all of them English!

Looking ahead

What would you love to achieve on air?: A competent show.
Where do you want to take your show next?: A slap-up meal on the Brayford in Lincoln with flowers and possibly dancing and romancing afterwards.
